Abstract/Contents: | "In order to improve the reasonable utilization of water resources in arid and semi-arid regions, several common grass species in the north of China, including Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis, cultivars: Connie, Kentucky and Eva), perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne)and tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea)were selected for the water controlled experiment. Three indexes, including the wilting coefficient, evapotranspiration in experiment period, and the number of days for recover after wilting, were measured. The results showed that the wilting coefficients were significantly correlated with the grass species, and the wilting coefficient of tall fescue was the highest, followed by Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass successively. After wilting cased by water shortage, the evapotranspiration decreased with the degree of shortage, and the evapotranspiration curve changed with the different states of water shortage and turfgrass species. Each species' water shortage degree was inversely proportional to accumulated evapotranspiration, but proportional to the time of recover. The wilting coefficient of the most drought-resistant species was Eva (116.0199g/kg), which occurred 2days later than other species. The proper time for irrigation was between the time of leaf circumnutating and leaf wilting cased by water shortage." |
