Abstract/Contents:"In order to develop a new soilless sod medium, six treatments were designed using the abandoned bedding of piggery and sand (T1: 90% sand+10% abandoned bedding; T2: 70% sand+30% abandoned bedding; T3: 50% sand+50% abandoned bedding; T4: 30% sand+70% abandoned bedding; T5: 90% sand+10% abandoned bedding; T6: 100% abandoned bedding; CK: soil) (volume ratio, the same as blow). The influences of abandoned bedding on the growth and drought resistance of tall fescue and perennial ryegrass were studied. Results indicated that the leaf breadth, chlorophyll and soluble protein contents of both lawn grasses grown in the medium added abandoned bedding are apparently higher than CK. The abandoned bedding could promote the growth of both lawn grasses. And the heavy metals of abandoned bedding did not hurt both lawn grasses. Drought resistance test showed that the water and nutritive element contents of abandoned bedding were higher than that of soil. So the abandoned bedding could reduce the effect of drought stress on turf grasses."
