Abstract/Contents:"Ensuring variety purity is the key issue for vegetative propagation in seashore paspalum (Paspalum vaginatum). Varietes 'Salam', 'SeaSpray', 'SeaDwarf', 'SeaIsle 2000' and 'SeaDwarf mutant' were analyzed by morphological and AFLP differences. Results show that AFLP analysis is similar to their morphological characteristics. Both indicate that 'Salam' and 'SeaSpray' are genetically closer and could be clustered in one group; 'SeaDwarf' and 'SeaIsle 2000' are in another group. AFLP analysis shows genetic similarity coefficients (GSCs) between 'SeaDwarf' and 'SeaDwarf mutant' is 0.5281; their morphological taxonomic dissimilarity (TD) is as high as 4.8570. All indicated that 'SeaDwarf mutant' is a complete mutation from 'SeaDwarf'.Those results indicate that AFLP analysis could be used to assist the identification of seashore paspalum varieties or their mutants."
