Abstract/Contents:"The effects of different proportions of fast-release fertilizer and slow-release fertilizer (0, 1:1, 1:2, 2:1, 1:3, 3:1) on Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) turf quality were studied in spring trials at the Beijing seed control station (N 40° 00'~40° 18',E 116° 28'~116° 58'). Results indicate that the mixed application of fast-release fertilizer and slow-release fertilizer can maintain high turf quality as well as good lawn color. Meanwhile, the content of total N in turfgrass tissue can be kept stable in order to quickly and sustainably provide the nutrient needs of growth. The best ratio of the two fertilizers for improving lawn color is 1:1. Further, the content of nitrogen in Kentucky bluegrass was highest and stable during the entire experimental period with a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio of the two fertilizers. Kentucky bluegrass has the most stable growth with 1:3 ratios among the treatments."
