Abstract/Contents:"Subsurface drip irrigation is better in water saving and management for lawn in comparison with the spray irrigation. In order to explore the appropriate emitter burying depth of subsurface drip irrigation, the soil water distribution and turfgrass growth characteristics under subsurface drip irrigation were observed and analyzed by the simulative experiment and filed test. The results show that the wetting front migration distance decreased in the vertical direction and increased in horizontal direction along with the increase in emitter burying depth at a given flow rate and irrigation time. For the same emitter burying depth, the water content distribution was symmetrical on both sides from the emitter. The aboveground biomass under the treatment of 20 cm emitter burying depth was significantly higher than those under other treatments in quick growth stage (P<0.05). No significant effect of emitter burying depth on sward density was detected.Emitter burying depth affected root distribution to some degree, the root density and underground biomass increased obviously nearby the emitter of drip irrigation system."
