Abstract/Contents:"After the installation of football fields and golf courts it is necessary to have plenty of water when sowing the large spelt wheats, because the young plants do not possess an adequate root system. In case a drought directly follows the sowing, it is indispensable to assure an additional watering. It is well-known that the superabsorber "'Stockosorb'" can store water and then give it back to the plants. A test was made in the department specialized on turf at the University of Hohenheim in order to check how stockosorb performs in this case. There were tests made on a RSM 4.1 Var. 1 for golf green and a RSM 3.1 for football field in ITM modules regarding their growth, their content in mineral compounds and their degree of coverage. It was observed that in case of the RSM 4.1 the degree of coverage shoots up very fast when using the stockosorb. A higher number of plants, dry matters and fresh materials were noticed as well. After analysis of the mineral compounds it was possible to note that the potassium content was increased in both mixtures, while the contents in calcium and magnesium decreased because of an ionic antagonism."
