Abstract/Contents: | Excellent control of sod webworms was provided by Akton at rates of 1 and 2 lb/acre, compared with other commercial and experimental insecticides. The most promising insecticide for the control of Rhodesgrass scale (Antonina graminis) was Dyfonate at 4 lb/acre. The experimental insecticides Bromophos, Monsanto's CP 47114 and Geigy's 13005 continued to show promise for the control of the southern chinch bug (Blissus insularis). Two selections of St. Augustine grass, ECY No. 1 and Zaleski No. 1, were found to be markedly resistant to attack by the southern chinch bug and were selected for further evaluations in comparison with commercial selections. |
