| Abstract/Contents: | The individual varieties and grass species tested for roadside turf varied in their salt tolerance, the differences being expecially marked between varieties of Festuca rubra, Lolium perenne and Agrostis stolonifera palustris but rater small with A. tenuis and A. conina. Varieties of F. rubra, F. vallesiaca var. Gruber and A. stolonifera palustris var. Penncross (all with short stolons), a few varieties of L. perenne and F. ovina var. Biljart exhibited the highest salt tolerance. Some of these varieties also showed good drought resistance. |
