Abstract/Contents:Eleven herbicide treatments were raked into a silt loam soil on 2 July, 2, 5, or 8 weeks before sowing Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis), Pennlawn fescue (Festuca rubra) and carpetweed (Mollugo verticillata) on half of each plot and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) and mouse-ear chickweed (Cerastium vulgatum) on the other half. Of the herbicides which did not seriously reduce the stand of turf grasses picloram at 0.125 lb/acre gave good control of M. verticillata sown up to 5 weeks after treatment, and picloran and siduron (12 lb/acre) greatly reduced the establishment of T. officinale and C. vulgatum sown up to 8 weeks after treatment. Eleven herbicide treatments were raked into a silt loam soil on 2 July 1968, 2, 5 or 8 weeks before sowing Kentucky bluegrass [Poa pratensis], Pennlawn fescue [Festuca rubra] and carpetweed [Mollugo verticillata] on half of each plot and dandelion [Taraxacum officinale] and mouseear chickweed [Cerastium vulgatum] on the other half. Of the herbicides which did not seriously reduce the stand of turf grasses, picloram at 0.125# gave good control of M. verticillata sown up to 5 weeks after treatment and picloram and siduron (12#) greatly reduced the establishment of T. officinale and C. vulgatum sown up to 8 weeks after treatment.
