| Abstract/Contents: | "MON 12000 [halosulfuron - methyl (ISO proposed)] is being developed in the USA for control of purple and yellow nutsedge in turfgrass. Small plot trials were conducted in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991 in common bermudagrass turf overseeded with perennial ryegrass. MON 12000 at rates of 35, 70, and 140 g ai ha-1 gave 85-99% control of purple and yellow nutsedge 4-8 weeks after treatment at the three- to eight-leaf stage. The length of control was rate-responsive. When sequential applications were made after new germination of nutsedge had reached the three- to five-leaf stage of growth, both species of nutsedge were controlled for an additional 4-8 weeks." |
