| Abstract/Contents: | "The restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis using genomic clones of Zoysia japonica Steud. was applied to evaluate the genetic variations of zoysiagrasses. Ten genomic clones were obtained from the genomic library constructed with Pstl-digested DNA fragments of Z. japonica. The 17 accessions covering five Zoysia species used in the experiment were distinguished by the RFLP analysis with these clones. A dendrogram showing genetic relationships among accessions was constructed based on genetic distances calculated from RFLP patterns, in which the 17 accessions were divided into three major groups; namely Z. japonica group, Z. matrella (L.) Merr. and Z. tenuifolia Merr. group, and Z. sinica Hance and Z. macrostachya Hance group. In the group of Z. japonica, J-4 and J-7 were genetically to other accessions of Z. japonica. The morphological characters of J-4 and J-7 were resemble to those of Z. macrostachya and Z. matrella, respectively. These results suggested that these two accessions would be interspecific hybrids." |
