| Abstract/Contents: | "Major concerns about the use of pesticides and fertilizers on golf courses continue to be expressed by citizen groups and regulatory agencies. A well-maintained golf course does require the use of these materials as a part of the overall cultural program. However, a low-risk management plan, which will ease these concerns, can be developed. Integrated Turfgrass-Environmental Management Strategies (ITEMS) combines site-specific information, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Best Management Practices (BMP) and the interrelationship of various maintenance practices to develop a management plan which maximizes turfgrass quality and golf course playability while minimizing environmental impact." |
