Abstract/Contents:"For selecting Inner Mongolia native turfgrass which could grow on high sediment soil, pot cultivation was conducted to study the effects of four different soil treatments on coverage, tiller numbers and biomass of wild Festuca ovina and Koeleria cristata turf from June to September in 2009. The results showed that:(1) Both wild Festuca ovina and Koeleria cristata turf had good characteristics in adapting to the sandy soil. Under any soil treatments, coverage, underground biomass and root/shoot ratio of Koeleria cristata turf was higher than that of Festuca ovina turf, while tiller numbers and aboveground biomass was reduced. (2) Under 30% agricultural soil +70% sand soil treatment, tiller numbers, coverage and biomass of Festuca ovina turf were larger than other soil treatments. Under 100% agricultural soil treatment Koeleria cristata turf grew best. When sand content was more than 50%, the effect of the index had no significant differences as sand content increasing. The result showed that the ability of Festuca ovina to tolerant the poor and rough soil was better than Koeleria cristata. The adaptive range of the soil of Koeleria cristata was wider than Festuca ovina."
