Abstract/Contents:"The correlations and variations of seed morphological characters in 18 different genotypes of gramineous turf grass were studied. The results show that: the variation of seed morphological characters in gramineous turf grass was 1000-grain-volume (16.34%) > 1000-grain-weight (13.33%) > 1000-grain-surface-area (13.22%) > grain length (9.76%) > grain density (8.43%) > grain width (7.81%) > grain thickness (6.74%). The seed morphology of gramineous could be divided into three categories with a significant difference between individual categories (P < 0.05). The correlation analysis indicated that the correlation in other lawn grass seed morphological characteristics was significantly correlated (P < 0.05) except for 1000-grain-weight and grain weight. The grain length, grain width, grain thickness, 1000-grain-weight, 1000-grain-surface-area were negatively correlated with the grain weight. Other seed morphology of gramineous turf grass was positively correlated. The grain length, grain width, grain thick, 1000-grain-weight, 1000-grain-surface-area all could reflect the characteristics of the seed. These results of morphological variations and morphological characteristics will provide a theory support for the resource description, variety improvement and establishment of a seed resource standard system of gramineous turf grass."
