Abstract/Contents:"Root activities and some other physiological responses in three warm-season turfgrasses under the soil salt stress were studied in this article. When the salt stress was in the range of the three turfgrasses could tolerate, its root activity and the protein increased in early phase of stress and decreased in later phase of stress, but trended to decrease continually while the tolerance of salt stress exceeded its threshold. With the salt stress enhanced and prolonged, WSD (water saturation deficit) would increased in the leaves of the turfgrass, the Pro (proline) content trended to increase in early phase of stress whole decreased in later phase, but it peak and declining extent differed among three grasses. The changing trend of physiological response differed from different grasses, and this physiological response was related to salt tolerance of turfgrasses and could be used to estimated the salt tolerance of three turfgrasses."
