| Abstract/Contents: | In fertilizer studies on a Festuca rubra turf applying N at 3.6 kg or 0.9 kg/93 m2/season as ammonium nitrate reduced Corticium fuciforme infection compared with no-N control plots. The higher N rate was the more effective, even when combined with P (0.8 kg as P2O5) or K (1.5 or 3 kg as K2O) and remained so throughout the winter. NPK interactions occurred in mixed bentgrass and in red fescue turf at high and low mowing heights, 3.8 and 1.9 cm, respectively; P + low N, and P + high N + low cut reduced and increased red thread disease incidence, respectively, as compared with the no-P treatment. All K levels reduced the amount of disease at all N levels, 0.8 kg P and the low cutting height. |
