Abstract/Contents:Curbside recyling programs are on the rise in America to decrease the municipal solid waste in landfills. Composting facilities which recycle leaves, grass, brush, and other yard trimmings help decrease the level of waste going into the landfills. Also, incinerators are being built to recycle energy. The number of curbside recycling programs rose by 38% in 1992 in response to nationwide awareness of the need for environmental protection.
