Abstract/Contents: | In Portland, Oregon, the Claremont Country Club is not maintained by a superintendent, but by a landscape maintenance company. The president of the company writes that the reason he received the job was because the firm pays attention to certain things better. "These things, such as the condition of the lakes, banks, and fringe areas between the course and the homes, were important to the developer. The course was part of the draw to get people to buy homes in the development. The whole course has to look sharp, not just the tees, greens and fairways. You have to please the homeowners as well as the golfers." |
