Abstract/Contents:"This evaluation was carried out at the Landscape Management Research Center, University Park, PA, on Kentucky bluegrass maintained under home lawn conditions. The test area was fertilized on 28 Apr with 1.0 lb nitrogen per 1000 sq. ft (Scotts 32-3-10). Individual plots, 3 ft x 6 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with eight replications. Treatments were applied with a CO2-powered boom sprayer, using T-jet 8004 nozzles at 30 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. Applications were made on 22 Apr, 20 May, 16 Jun, 14 Jul, and 10 Aug. Each test plot received 0.5 inches of water at the time of treatment application. The nonwatered-in treatments were irrigated just prior to treatment application, and fungicides were allowed to dry on the grass foliage. The watered-in treatments (WI) were irrigated immediately after application of treatments. Disease severity was visually evaluated on 13 Jul. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Duncan's Multiple Range test. The weather during this trial was not conducive to necrotic ring spot development. There were high amounts of rainfall, and temperatures exceeded 85F on only two days and never reached 90F. Because of low disease severity, statistical separation of data obtained was not good, however, the most disease-free plots were those treated with the SC formulation of Chipco 26019 or with a combination of the WG formulation of Chipco 26019 and experimental fungicide. Plots treated with Sentinel and EXP 10064C showed adverse effects of the chemicals on the Kentucky bluegrass."
