| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated on a bentgrass putting green at the Alvamar Country Club, Lawrence, KS. Fungicides were applied on 29 Oct 91 with a CO2-powered backpack sprayer equipped with 8004 flat fan nozzles at 20 psi in water equivalent to 4.5 gal/1000 ft2. Plots were not irrigated after application; however, approximately 1 in. of water (rain and snow) covered the plots within 12 hr. Plots were rated on 6 Mar for the percentage plot area damaged by yellow patch. Symptoms of yellow patch were not evident Nov through Jan but did develop in late Feb following relatively cool, wet weather. The disease was most severe near the putting green margin, resulting in a significant (P < 0.05) block effect. All fungicides tested suppressed (P < 0.05) disease development. Little or no disease was found in plots treated with Prostar, Bayleton, Eagle, Lynx, and CGA 173506. Applications of Rugigan, Banner, Bayleton, and Lynx resulted in a slight, dark blue-green discoloration of the 'Cohansey' bentgrass in Feb. Results suggest that a single fungicide application in late Oct or early Nov suppresses development of yellow patch throughout winter." |
