| Abstract/Contents: | "The trial was conducted on the tee of Hole #4 at the Waverly Municipal Golf Course, Waverly, IA. This tee is composed of a mix of creeping bentgrass and Kentucky bluegrass, and has had severe outbreaks of gray and pink snow molds in most of the last 10 years. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with 4 replications. All plots measured 5 ft x 5 ft. Fungicides were applied on 14 Nov 1991, using a modified bicycle sprayer at 30 psi and a dilution rate of 5 gal/1000 sq ft. Snow cover persisted almost continuously from late Nov until about 1 Mar 1992. The plots were rated for snow mold severity on 4 Mar. On that date, symptoms of gray and pink snow mold were abundant at several sites on the golf course. Snow mold development on untreated check plots was moderate, with an average of 10-25% of the plot area symptomatic. Symptoms of both gray and pink snow mold were evident in these plots. All fungicide treatments gave significantly better control of snow mold than the untreated check, except S-3122 at 4 oz, Ronilan 50 DF at 2 oz, and Curalan Special at 6 oz. Four of 14 fungicide treatments were completely free of snow mold damage. No phytotoxicity symptoms were observed." |
