| Abstract/Contents: | Research has indicated that the market potential for a high quality, inexpensive organic amendment for use in agriculture and floriculture is excellent for growers in Santa Cruz County, California. Developing the market is a two-fold challenge: Increasing the percentage of growers who use organic amendments, and increasing application rates for those who currently use organic matter. The initial study found that, "Nearly all the growers who returned the survey indicated they use organic matter in their operation, but they were a self-selected-group, with a high level of interest in use of organic amendments." The projects specifics reviewed in detail include the following: 1) working with applicators, 2) quality and price factors, 3) agricultural advantages, and 4) pilot and user education. The main industries which the project targets are agriculture and floriculture. |
