Abstract/Contents: | The National Playing Fields Association re-examined its policy of not allowing dogs to be on playing fields and playgrounds. The policy is being re-examined because walking a dog is considered to be a form of recreation. Therefore, a consultation was conducted to make appropriate recommendations on how to deal with the problem. Leaflets were distributed suggesting that there be a balanced provision making areas available for dogs on and off leads, children playing, and people playing sports. It was also suggested that areas where children play and sports are played be fenced in and that an area should be left outside the fenced section for a dog exercise zone. Results and recommendations from the consultation are due to be published. |
