Abstract/Contents: | Autumn application of glyphosate at 1.5 lb/acre gave 80% control of Agropyron repens 8 inches high but only 51% control when A. repens was cut to 3 inches. Dalapon at 10 lb/acre gave better initial control than glyphosate but A. repens recovered somewhat the following spring. Spring application of glyphosate at 1.5 lb/acre to A. repens 8- to 10-inches gave a 95% reduction in number of shoots. In a glasshouse study, glyphosate at 0.5 lb/acre gave nearly complete control of bentgrass (Agrostis sp.). In the field, glyphosate at 1 lb/acre gave 96% control of Agrostis sp. without injuring Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) sown 3 weeks after the application. Aminotriazole at 4 lb/acre and dalapon at 10 lb/acre slightly injured P. pratensis seedlings. |
