| Abstract/Contents: | This article leads with three Poa pratensis trials at Iowa State University during the 1992 season. The trials were divided into high maintenance, a non-irrigated plot and a low maintenance plot. The objective of the high-maintenance study is to investigate cultivar performance under a cultural regime similar to that used on irrigated home lawns in Iowa. The objective of the second study is to observe the cultivar response under conditions similar to those found in non-irrigated lawns that receive a standard lawn care program. The objective of the third study is to evaluate cultivars under conditions similar to those maintained in a park or school ground. Tables showing results include 1) The 1992 quality ratings for the high-maintenance, irrigated Kentucky bluegrass trial, 2) The 1992 quality ratings for the high-maintenance, non-irrigated regional Kentucky bluegrass test, and 3) The 1992 quality ratings for the low-maintenance, non-irrigated bluegrass trial. These trials included: 1) A high maintenance study to investigate cultivar performance under a cultural regime similar to irrigated home lawns in Iowa (128 entries) ; 2) A study to observe the cultivar response under conditions similar to a non-irrigated lawn in a lawn care progam (80 entries); and 3) A study to evaluate cultivars under conditions similar to those maintained in a park or school ground (62 entries). Tables report rating results of the studies by month and mean value. |
