| Abstract/Contents: | Benfluralin, bensulide, chlorthal-dimethyl, nitralin and terbucarb were evaluated for the control of annual bluegrass [Poa annua] and their effects on oversown perennial ryegrass, red fescue, bentgrass [Agrostis tenuis] and Poa trivialis. Herbicides were applied 6-14 weeks before oversowing with or without previous early spring treatment. Bensulide, nitralin and terbucarb consistently gave 75-100% control when applied 6-8 weeks before oversowing. Bentgrass was the most sensitive to herbicide. Perennial ryegrass was successfully sown 6-8 weeks after the application of bensulide at 12.5 lb/acre but fescue and P. trivialis showed slight reductions in density and vigour. |
