| Abstract/Contents: | "MON 12000 is a new herbicide under development for control of both purple and yellow nutsedge in turfgrasses. Small plot replicated trials conducted since 1988 on a variety of warm- and cool-season turfgrasses have demonstrated excellent turf safety with MON 12000. At rates of 0.031 - 0.063 lb a.i./A, MON 12000 did not cause phytotoxicity or reductions in turf growth. Control of both purple and yellow nutsedge at these rates were greater than 85% as compared to untreated plots 4 - 8 weeks after application. Sequential applications may be applied to provide control of additional flushes of nutsedge. Activity on other sedges and several broadleaf weeds has also been observed. Other characteristics of MON 12000 include favorable toxicological and environmental profiles as well as safety to adjacent ornamentals and fall overseeded grasses." |
