Abstract/Contents: | "Adverse soil physical conditions often limit turfgrass growth and quality. Part of good turf management is to identify detrimental soil physical conditions that are present on a site and the spatial location of the problem within the soil profile. Then the manager can decide on potential corrective options. Primary management operations to alleviate soil physical problems are various cultivation, soil modification, and drainage techniques. In this article the emphasis is on problems encountered on golf greens and tees, and the use of certain cultivation techniques - Hydro-Ject, solid tine aeration (ST), and hollow tine aeration (HT) - as corrective measures. Each cultivation has strengths and weaknesses that define it's particular use." |
