| Abstract/Contents: | Glyphosate was applied in September 1973 at 0-3 lb/acre to an actively growing 7-year-old stand of quackgrass (Agropyron repens). The area was ploughed 5 days later, disced and sown to a mixture of Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis), red fescue (Festuca rubra) and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne). A. repens control as measured in July 1974 averaged 99% for rates down to 1 lb. Some regrowth from rhizome buds was evident. There was no evidence that glyphosate affected either turfgrass seed germination or seedling development. |
