Abstract/Contents:"Plant growth regulators have the ability to inhibit stem elongation on turf grassland, increase root to shoot ratio, increase stress resistance and other functions. In order to develop a versatile and efficient compound plant growth regulator, Poa pratensis was used as the research material. Based on the preliminary experimental results, iron and calcium compounds were added to the formulations containing paclobutrazol (PP333), naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and ethephon (ETH) with a view to controlling its side effects on turfgrass growth in this study. The research indicate that 200 mg·kg-1 PP333+180 mg·kg-1 ETH+5 g·L-1 FeSO4 mixed application has the best effect by inhibiting the elongation rate of stem on the ground of Poa pratensis, increasing the ratio of root to shoot, improving the activity of antioxidant enzymes, and increasing the resistance to stress. The leaf quality index, leaf number, tillering capacity and other lawn quality indicators did not exhibit significant negative impact, whereas chlorophyll content decreased by 11.70% relative to the control group. This combination of chemicals is an effective plant growth regulator of Poa pratensis."
