Abstract/Contents: | Presents a review of some of the research on turfgrasses which has been a cooperative effort, and comments on some future direction for grass breeding and specifically, turfgrass improvement. Discusses techniques involved in breeding programs all over the United States which are used to develop new improved turfgrass varieties. Mutations of plant genes by radiation has sped up the process of natural mutation and selection. Work on in vitro culture of somatic and gametic plants cells shows promise as well. |
