Abstract/Contents: | "An intelligent, educated and thoughtful turf manager can improve fertilizer efficiency and reduce the fertilizer bill without reducing turf appearance a) by using rates and frequencies of application appropriate for a given N source, b) by using soil tests and small experimental areas to both prevent overfertilization and to prevent deficiencies of some nutrients which reduce the effectiveness of the others, c) by being careful to prevent fertilizer leaching from overwatering, d) by encouraging maximum nutrient uptake by promoting a healthy root system, and e) by using the least fertilizer requiring grass that will give acceptable appearance for a given usage and budget." |
