| Abstract/Contents: | Turfgrass fertilizers have both chemical and physical characteristics that set them apart from farm and garden fertilizers. The fertilizer ratios of turf fertilizers indicate a higher proportion of N to P2O5 and K20, and a portion of the N often comes from slow-release sources. Slow-release N gives a longer lasting effect and reduces fertilizer burn. Both manufactured and blended fertilizers are made for turf use, and in quality products attention is given to obtaining a particle size that will ensure rapid and even distribution. Formulas to determine amount of water soluble N in the fertilizer are given. |
