| Abstract/Contents: | The physical properties of the topmost soil layer of 7 football pitches were investigated with particular regard to drainage, aeration, organic matter and mositure content, soil components and sod thickness. The methods used to determine a criterion for a good playing surface are described. Turf resilience and recovery from wear and tear were measured monthly and related to the dry matter production by the grass. |
