| Abstract/Contents: | "Differences between 38 cool-season turfgrasses overseeded on 'Tifway II' and 'Tifgreen' bermudagrasses, Cynodon spp., were noted under fairway and putting green conditions, respectively, throughout the 1990-1991 winter growing season at Gainesville, FL. Rate of germination in an incubator was correlated with rate of cover of overseeded grasses on both fairway and putting green experimental sites. Because of differences in pure live seed content of seed lots involved in these studies, seeding rates of overseeded grasses should be based on pure live seed content and not on bulk seed weight. Overseeded putting green grasses with best seasonal turf quality were 'Accolade', 'Alliance', 'APM', 'Blend 1', 'Calypso', 'CBS III', 'Competitor', 'Derby Supreme', 'Double Eagle', 'Eagle', 'Fiesta II', 'Futura 2000', 'Medalist 8', 'Medalist X', 'Patriot II', 'Pebble Beach', 'Pennant', 'Ph D', 'Pleasure', 'Quartet', 'Repel II', 'Riviera', 'Rodeo II', 'Seville', 'Triple Play', and 'Yorktown III' perennial ryegrasses. Best overseeded fairway grasses were 'Advent', 'Alliance', 'Blend I', 'Calypso', 'Competitor', 'Delaware Dwarf', 'Double Eagle', 'Fiesta II', 'Futura 2000', 'Medalist 8', 'Patriot II', 'Pennant', 'Pleasure', 'Repel II', 'Rodeo II', 'Sunrise Primo', and 'Yorktown III' perennial ryegrasses." |
