Abstract/Contents:"Field research was initiated 5 June 2018 in Raleigh NC (Lake Wheeler Turfgrass Field Laboratory) and repeated in time to quantify the effect of post-application irrigation timing and volume on cyazofamid soil distribution and pythium root rot control (in-situ). Cyazofamid was spray-applied to a USGA-spec putting green comprised of 'A1/A4' creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera L.) at the maximum single application rate (Segway®; 1.1 kg ai ha-1) with small-plot, CO2--propelled equipment calibrated to deliver the lowest labeled carrier volume (812 L ha-1). Following application, plots received either 0.3 or 0.6 cm irrigation immediately (i.e., 0 hours after treatment [HAT]), or 6 HAT and irrigation ceased for a 3-day period following application. To quantify cyazofamid residue fate, plant and soil samples were collected 0 through 10 days after treatment (DAT). At 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 10 DAT, turfgrass clippings were collected via walk-behind reel mower to quantify residue loss via clipping collection. Additionally, at 0, 1, 5 and 7 DAT, cup cutter sample were collected and divided into four unique segments: remaining aboveground vegetation, as well as 0 to 2.5 cm, 2.5 to 5 cm and 5 to 7.5 cm soil depths. All samples were frozen until subsequent cyazofamid residue analysis via HPLC-MS methodology. Irrigating immediately following application (i.e., 0 HAT) resulted in a 5-fold increase in cyazofamid residue (32.4 to 36% of the applied) in the 0 to 2.5 cm soil depth compared to withholding irrigation until 6 HAT (5.3 to 5.5%) at 0 and 1 DAT sample collection timings. Data generated as a result of this research will enhance turfgrass best management practices intended to enhance fungicide delivery to the target site (i.e., rootzone) and provide information pertaining to cyazofamid dissipation kinetics from golf course putting greens."
