Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were applied with a CO² pressurized (35 psi) sprayer equipped with a flat-fan (8010) nozzle, and calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000ft₂. Dates of application and spray intervals are noted in the data table. Soil was a Chillum silt loam with a pH of 6.5 and 2.9% OM. Turf was mowed to a height of 2.0 in., was fertilized with 2.0 lb N/1000ft₂/yr, and was irrigated to prevent drought stress. Plots were 5 x 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replicates. Percent of plot area blighted was visually assessed on a 0 to 100% scale where 0 = no blight and 100 = entire plot area blighted. Ratings exceeding 5% would be considered unacceptable brown patch control on a golf course fairway. Overall quality was visually determined on a 0 to 10 linear scale. Disease pressure was in the moderate range. Eagle provided generally marginal control throughout Jul and its residual effectiveness dissipated by 2 Aug (i.e., 18 days after last application). RHO 611, Fore, Curalan, Curalan + Daconil, Curalan + Fore, and all S-2074 provided good to excellent brown patch control throughout Jul. Except for S-2074, all fungicides had lost their residual effectiveness and plots were unacceptably blighted by early Aug. On the final rating date (i.e., 9 Aug), only plots treated with the high rate of S-2074 exhibited commercially acceptable control. At that time, best turf quality was associated with the aforementioned treatments." A table is included which gives data regarding treatment and rate, application intervals, percentage of plot area blighted by R. solani, and overall quality. |
