| Abstract/Contents: | Ellenberg's grouping of turf species according to their site requirements and growth characteristics could be used in determining whether old, worn lawns required or justified improvement. The proportional cover given by different spp. in the turf was assessed and factors such as sward density, bare patches, the proportion of turf grasses to weeds and the characteristics of the grasses were considered when deciding whether to renovate without ploughing or whether to plough up the old turf and re-seed. |
