Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were applied with a CO² pressurized (35 psi) sprayer equipped with a flat-fan (8010) nozzle, and calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000ft₂. Dates of application are footnoted in the data table. Soil was a Chillum silt loam with a pH of 6.2 and 2.7% OM. Turf was mowed to a height of 0.75 in., fertilized with 3.0 lb N/1000ft₂/yr, and irrigated to prevent drought stress. Plots were 5 x 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replicates. Percent of plot area blighted was assessed visually on a linear 0 to 100% scale where 0 = no blight and 100 = entire plot area blighted. Brown patch and dollar spot ratings exceeding 5 and 0.5%, respectively would be considered unacceptable disease control for a golf course fairway. Brown patch pressure was severe throughout most of the study. All treatments, except EXP 10622A and Aliette + Fore (2.0 + 4.0 oz), provided good to excellent brown patch control until 27 Jul. EXP 10622A provided no brown patch control. By 27 Jul (i.e., 16 days after last spray) the residual effectiveness of fungicides had begun to dissipate. At this time, only EXP 10621A (8.0 oz) was providing acceptable brown patch control. By 2 Aug, all plots were blighted unacceptably. The high rate of Aliette + Fore provided significantly better brown patch control on all dates (except 27 Jul), when compared to the low rate. Data collected 20 and 27 Jul showed that Chipco 26019, and all EXP compounds (excluding EXP 10622A), provided excellent dollar spot control." Table presenting data regarding treatment and rate per thousand square feet, percentage of plot area blighted by R. solani according to date, and percentage of plot area blighted by S. homoeocarpa is included.
