| Abstract/Contents: | "The exact role of phosphite in turfgrass management is unproven. Currently there are 3 trains of thought (Rossall et al 2015), it is fungicidal, it is a plant elicitor that triggers the plants defences to fight off disease or it has a biostimulant mode of action in the plant. Research on in vitro populations of Microdochium nivale has shown negligible fungiostatic activity from a phosphite formulation on a number of different Microdochium nivale isolates taken from golf courses across Europe. The research studied the effects on fungal growth and conidia germination using phosphite and the results were compared to 2 known effective fungicides in the same trial." |
