Abstract/Contents: | The USGA started researching putting at this year's Open. Until now putting has been virtually the only part of the game of golf that has not been researched. The research involved using a laser measuring device that uses a triangulation method to determine the length of each putt to a tolerance of plus or minus three inches. A Stimpmeter was also used to measure the break and green speed. The goal of the research is to obtain a mathematical model of the putting game. |
