| Abstract/Contents: | "Excessive water retention and poor water movement through a golf green soil profile are frequently causal or contributory factors for turf health issues and often result in poor surface playing quality1. A significant portion of turf maintenance effort is spent carrying out cultural practices, such as aeration, scarification and top dressing, to help maintain optimum soil air:water balance and to facilitate water movement into the underlying drainage system. However, new types of maintenance equipment have been developed to help deal with these issues. One such tool is the deep linear aerator with sand injector (Imants Sandcat). The objective of the trial was to evaluate if use of deep linear sand injection during turf renovations would help improve water retention and movement on a problem golf green." |
