| Abstract/Contents: | "The reestablishment of golf greens following winter injuries causes considerable economic burden for Nordic golf course owners, and knowledge that can help greenkeepers reduce the recovery time is in demand. Reestablishment from seed on dead greens in the spring is difficult due to low soil temperature, high radiation, wind and unfavourable soil conditions (dead turf and thatch). Reestablishment following ice encasement is reported by greenkeepers to be particularly difficult, possibly due to the build-up of phytotoxic metabolites under the ice1. A number of these phytotoxic substances have shown a negative impact on seedling growth of Agrostis capillaris L. and Dactylis glomerata L2." |
