Abstract/Contents: | "Auraria is a commuter campus, housing three different institutions of higher learning and an entertainment complex. We want to attract students, and we need to look good as a new player in the park system of urban Denver, but we don't have budgets equivalent to private schools. Auraria is a state agency serving three state schools; University of Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State College of Denver, and Community College of Denver." Michael Thorton, Grounds Manager of Auraria Higher Education Center, explains what maintenance practices are used to keep the campus aesthetically pleasing and environmentally responsible on a small state budget. The maintenance practices discussed include the following: snow removal, fertilizing, pest management, and landscape design. |
