Abstract/Contents: | Due to reinforcement, Melbourne Cricket Ground has been able to host a lot more events with a great deal more diversity possible. Not only are they increasing the number of Australian football games and cricket games, but also non-sporting events, such as concerts by Paul McCartney, U2, Madonna, and others, and The World's Longest Lunch (part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival). The new surface has reduced wear, with less resodding required, even with the heavier schedule, and also stands up well under the massive weight of the concert paraphernalia and fans. |
