Abstract/Contents:"The chemical inhibitor, maleic hydrazide (MH), has a property of inhibiting growth of all plants. The degree of inhibition is proportionate to the dosage of chemical applied." Discusses the results of experiments conducted to develop the use of MH to reduce mowing costs. Results indicated that MH reduced the number of mowings per season from 11 to two on median areas and diffcult-to-mow slopes treated with MH required no mowing in some areas. The factors discussed affecting results with maleic hydrazide are the following: 1) Equipment for application; 2) Timing of application; 3) Dosage of MH-30; 4) Effect of re-treatment; and 5) Environmental factors affecting results.
