Abstract/Contents: | A chart is given summarizing species relationships in 28 Bromus spp., serological investigations on which are reported. B. arvensis and B. brachystachys were probably ancestral to 2 closely related groups of Eurasian tetraploid species; B. scoparius or a very close relative of it was probably also implicated. The serological similarity of B. arvensis and B. brachystachys could explain the serological similarity of the morphologically distinctive tetraploids B. hordeaceus and B. lepidus. N. pseudosecalinus and B. palaestinus were serologically distinct from the other species with which they were grouped on morphological grounds. |
