Abstract/Contents: | "Let's attempt to define once and for all time what a redan hole is. The hole generally should require a long iron shot. The green is on a right-to-left 45-degree angle to the line of flight, with a ramp or rise leading into the right green front. A deep bunker, with the sand a good distance below the putting surface, guards the left, its face steeply angled. A second bunker may be located to the right rear of the green. About 30 yards or so short of the green, a line of bunkers, a ridge, or another intervening feature can be found; its purpose is to deny the golfer on the tee a view of the intervening land between it and the putting surface." |
