Abstract/Contents:"In 1987, three different grass-herb mixtures were sown at three different places, i.e. in Berlin, Bonn and Hohenheim. They were mowed and bonitated once a year. The first preliminary results are shortly discussed. A detailed description will follow in a later publication." All experiments began in fall of 1987, planting 3 different mixtures, using 2 differing cutting regimes. The experiments were repeated three times. The single mowing variant was cut in the second half of June, the twice annually mowing variant was cut first at the end of May/ beginning of June, and again in September. Results as follows: Of 26 total plant kinds planted, only two did not sprout. On almost all test areas Festuca rubra, Achillea millefolium, Centaurea jacea, Leucanthemum vulgare, Pimpenella saxifraga, Centaurea scabiosa, Dianthus deltoides, D. carthusianorum, and Lotus corniculatus thrived. The influence of location seemed to be small. The effect of mowing frequency was not the same on all test sites. On two of the sites, the two mowing variant proved more favorable to Festuca rubra, Trisetum flavescens and Lotus corniulatus. Grasses more benefitted by a single mowing were Achillea millefolium(on all three sites), Centaurea jacea, Dianthus deltoides, D. carhusianorum, Trifolium dubium and Medicago lupulina.
