| Abstract/Contents: | "Austin, Texas had a problem with wastewater biosolids disposal that persisted well into the 1980s. Biosolids had accumulated in onsite lagoons with no beneficial reuse or permanent disposal. In 1987, the city provided a state of the art solution to this problem with centralized biosolids treatment and reuse at the Hornsby Bend Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). The plant includes anaerobic digestion, open air drying, land application to an on-site privately operated farm, composting biosolids with tree trimmings as the bulking agent and an innovative compost vendor progam."
